Hunton Bitroc – a safe choice!
Hunton Bitroc is the first choice for wind barriers and a clear market leader in Norway. Since the 1970s Hunton has sold 250 million square metres of its Bitroc product to the Nordic market.
Hunton Bitroc complies with the requirement for 2.5 air changes per hour (ACH).
Environment
Hunton Bitroc is a layer of wood chip that would otherwise go to waste. The forest is PEFC™ certified.
Absorbs moisture
Hunton Bitroc absorbs and releases moisture (hygroscopic) as the humidity in the surroundings changes. This is a very important property where temperatures (the dew point) change quickly and can lead to condensation on the inside of the wind barrier. Our boards have more than 3 times better absorption than sarking felt, so our boards do not have this problem.
Reduces cold bridges
All walls will always have areas with poorer thermal insulation, for example over the studs. Using Hunton Bitroc will reduce cold bridges thanks to our boards’ additional insulating properties. 15 mm of Hunton Bitroc equates to almost 10 mm of standard mineral wool and a reduction in U-value of 0.01 W/m2K. In low-energy and passive buildings this makes it easier to meet the requirements on walls with simple measures.
Bias tape not needed
Hunton Bitroc offers good wind bracing – so good in fact that no additional bias tape is needed. This makes it easier to build. With felt products, bias tape must also be used.
Norwegian Technical Approval
Hunton Bitroc is a tested quality product. The board has Norwegian Technical Approval from SINTEF Certification. The boards are assumed to follow the building’s lifecycle, which is defined as 60 years, cf. Norwegian Technical Approval 2002.
Hunton Bitroc is equally suited for older as well as newer buildings.
